The Mainstream Media & Democrats have mis-characterized fellow (Conservative) Americans for decades. To set the record straight I am writing a series of profiles of Trump voters. In Profile No. 9 we meet Megan.
WHY DID YOU VOTE FOR TRUMP?
Trump is a very successful businessman. In the business world you must get the sales numbers every day. Sales numbers talk. And you need to be very, very realistic.
It becomes a cycle: If you don’t have accurate numbers and/or you don’t take accurate numbers into account when you make a decision, your business will eventually fail.
So many politicians just talk, talk, talk and nothing happens. We needed to give a businessman a chance to run America.
Trump knows that he needs accurate numbers and he needs to be realistic. America needs a businessman as president. Trump is a very realistic person and he follows the facts to make each decision.
ARE YOU HAPPY WITH TRUMP SO FAR?
Trump is doing a very good job except he Twitters too much. Because Trump is from the business world he lacks diplomatic experience. Businessmen need to act quickly, so sometimes Trump ignores diplomacy.
WHAT DID YOU THINK OF TRUMP’S RECENT TRIP TO ASIA?
When Trump is inside United States he is very strong and very strict in his language. But in South Korea recently he became very diplomatic. This is great! Trump uses diplomacy when he needs to. It is always good for the U.S. president to visit other countries.
WHAT ACCOMPLISHMENT DO YOU WANT TO SEE IN TRUMP’S FIRST TERM?
He needs to make America Number One, economically and militarily and in every way. We need to become the leader of the free world again.
WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE NUMBER ONE PROBLEM IN U.S. TODAY?
Americans take freedom for granted. People here abuse their freedoms. Americans don’t realize that others paid a price for their freedom. Instead, we need to really appreciate freedom. If you don’t learn from the past, bad history will repeat itself.
You need to “pay the price” to get into this country. (In one Asian country, where Megan has travelled frequently on business, immigrants who lie to authorities are deported.) America should adopt this system so there aren’t so many criminal aliens. America also needs to adopt a merit-based immigration system.
THE BEST COUNTRY IN THE WHOLE WORLD DUE TO OUR FREEDOMS
I believe America has the best system in the WHOLE world. Not perfect, but still a good system. Everyone from the top to the bottom follows the system, does not follow the dictator. This is the biggest difference between my home country and America. This is what I most appreciate about America.
America also has so many natural resources, like Alaska.
This country is open-minded. It included me, an immigrant. I appreciate the open opportunity and I appreciate the education system. And I appreciate what American society has given to me. It has given me the kind of freedom to read books, to do research, to allow me to say what I want and to allow me to improve myself every day.
I don’t take it for granted. I take it as a privilege. I appreciate this very much. So many countries are narrow-minded.
If you work hard, try hard, you won’t starve. We should all feel proud of country. My motherland gave me life, but my adopted country gives me so many choices, so many opportunities to improve myself to an unlimited
IT IS A PRIVILEGE TO LIVE HERE
American people are good people, decent people. They respect privacy. Americans exercise their privacy so naturally. I feel so thankful to live in this country. And I have become so Americanized, I feel uncomfortable when people ask personal questions.
BIGGEST CHANGE MEGAN HAS SEEN SINCE MOVING TO U.S.
Megan says the whole world is changing because of computers, internet and cellphones. Things move so quickly now.
Because Megan has travelled a lot for business over the decades she is very familiar with the security at both foreign and American airports. The biggest change she has seen since immigrating here is the strict security at airports and at many public areas after 9/11.
Megan has also noticed that, since Trump became president, New York City has armed guards at Grand Central Train Station. Megan thinks this is probably due to the terrorism threats.
GIVE BACK TO YOUR COUNTRY
Megan believes everyone who lives in America should appreciate what they have and should give back in some way.
MEGAN IMMIGRATED TO U.S. IN HER TWENTIES
Megan was born and raised in an Asian country tightly controlled by a dictatorship. Indeed, people were so afraid of disappearing that they NEVER said ANYTHING about the government. The dictatorship had a political prison on a small island offshore, which was closed when the last dictator died and the people were allowed to vote for the first time.
There was a great deal of poverty when Megan was growing up, but Megan’s family was better off than most. Megan’s parents knew that education was the answer to a secure future for their children. All graduated from college.
While in college Megan majored in International Trade. To improve her employability, she learned both English and Japanese, and dreamed of living in America, the “go to” country at that time.
Megan & her husband have lived on the East Coast for 30 years, and raised their kids there.
