North Korea Warns War Is Eminent With United States
Playing the crowd for every last emotion, the Deputy UN Ambassador for North Korea told the UN General Assembly that the crisis between the United States and his nation has reached the point that “a nuclear war may break out any moment.” Kim In-ryong told the membership, My country is the only one in the world subjected to “such an extreme and direct nuclear threat”. He also accused Washington of running a “secret operation aimed at the removal of our supreme leadership”.
As he spoke to members he told them his country had a right to have nuclear weapons and said they were for self-defense. He also repeated the same line used by other North Korean’s around the world saying: “the weapons are the North’s precious strategic asset that cannot be reversed or bartered for anything”. He then issued a stern warning that “the entire US mainland is within our firing range and if the US dares to invade our sacred territory even an inch it will not escape our severe punishment in any part of the globe.”
Kim rambled along the official party line, saying that North Korea would happily give up their Nukes. Just as soon as every other nation did the same. But not before the US disarms. “Unless the hostile policy and the nuclear threat of the US is thoroughly eradicated, we will never put our nuclear weapons and ballistic rockets on the negotiating table under any circumstances,” he said.
In a meaningless move on Monday, Russia finally joined the UN sanctions against North Korea. Putin issued a decree restricting economic, scientific and technological cooperation with the North. In addition, it identified 11 North Korean individuals linked to its nuclear program. The action came as the EU adopted a new range of sanctions to punish the North for its “continued and accelerated nuclear- and ballistic-missile programs.”
Meanwhile, the US and South Korea have started a new five-day series of naval exercises. Kim Jung-un has denounced the move as provocative and has renewed his threats of launching a missile strike against Guam. Washington was moved a step closer to an all out attack on the North this week. It was disclosed that North Korea possibly has as many as two nuclear Satellites over the United States.
